
The 2004 CMU Chippewa Marching Band has released "Onward with Banners Bold," a follow-up CD to the 2001 release of "Fire Up Chips!" The CD features the traditional CMU pre-game show including the "Oo-Wah!" chant, "Hail to the Chippewa," "The Fighting Chippewa," "Alma Mater, Hear Us Now," "America," "The Star-Spangled Banner," and new this season, “You’re a Grand Old Flag.” The CD also contains selections from the first halftime show of the 2004 season featuring Don Ellis’ “Open Wide” and the ever-popular “Malagueña.” Also included is one of the selections the marching band performed with hundreds of high school musicians at CMU’s Annual Band Day, the great Harry Belafonte Calypso hit, “Jump in the Line (Shake, Shake, Senora). The CD also features several different cadence sequences by the nationally recognized CMU Drum line, as well as cheers heard in the stands by the band on game days, such as “C-H-I-P-P-E-W-A” and “Let’s Go Fire up Chips!”
The Marching Chippewas are under the direction of CMU Associate Director of Bands, Dr. James Batcheller and the CMU Director of Bands, John E. Williamson. This recording was produced and engineered by Scott Burgess.
